THREE pax were not dissuaded by the cold temps, but the temps did freeze my phone, so I had no clue after an early trip to bed that I’d be showing up to a vacated Q at the eternal playground of Centennial Park, aka The Dump. No one present had any GI issues for once, but someone drove their dog there just for defecation, so we had a pup pax continue the tradition. I had intended to make sure Ansel had company for his ruck WOD because Kato is in the mountains, and Coors too often tastes the Rockies and fartsacks Thursdays, and Muck is unpredictable. Lo and behold we had three pax with no concept of time but a great time to get after it and knock out a ruck WOD that was overdue. Burning Man ended up as pax of the day by default because he tried a ruck workout for the first time since leaving Kenya where he often rucked with the head of a conquered lion held proudly overhead.
One of us had all the proper gear for radon checks, and the other had enough weight to supply others for a ruck WOD. Here’s what we did.

THE THANG
We did a WOD called The Will for SFC. Will Lindsay, who often said, “I will never run from a gunfight.” He was KIA in Kunduz, Afghanistan, this past March 22. The Colorado native was 33.
Jason shared the memory and this WOD when GORUCK crashed the CrossFit Games this past summer. He said: “Will was one of my first friends in A/2/10, we were united by being FNG’s in close quarters and our desire to not be that anymore. Will was killed in action this year, 2019, and his service cost him his life and created a hole that his family and our community will feel forever. I’m lucky to have known him. We put together this workout to honor him, his 4 daughters, and wife. When it hurts a little, just think about the sacrifice Will made.”
The WOD calls for 10 Rounds of the following:
10 Ruck Squats
10 American Ruck Twists
10 Ruck Push-Ups
10 Ruck High-Pulls
PLUS Ruck 1 Mile with Sandbag to be completed at any time during the WOD.
We doubled up for time and did five rounds of 20 of everything and walked to different places on the campus to accrue a mile of rucking and search for spots that were either not windy at all or completely windswept like the top of the massive staircase on the hill.
We got back to the cars, checked our time for the first time since we started, and it was 6:14. De-ruck.

This was part of the November individual challenge, so I was happy to do it with some F3 brothers to make it worth the tardiness. From GR: The workout consists of four movements, one for each of his daughters that he left behind, followed by a one mile ruck with a sandbag in honor of his wife, Sarah. There are 10 repetitions of each movement, which represents the 10th Special Forces group.
From me: Great work today, guys. Very nice surprise to see Burning Man wear a ruck and embrace the suck. Muck is amazing in his ability to work hard and fast but also defy logic by showing up to a ruck WOD without his ruck. Burning Man had a tremendous spirit and can-do attitude that helped this be a fun one. I neglected to Q anything at all this month (and maybe last month) with the broken foot, wrestling, and family life preventing a hard commit to anything, so it was nice to kind of get forced into leading something upon arrival today. Great work, great men, great tribute workout, and a great day.
