BACKBLAST – BIRTHDAY AT THE PIG PEN

On my way to Kouts, I wasn’t completely sure anyone else would be there. It was somewhat of a relief when I saw Bessie doing some warmup laps around the track. It wasn’t long before Mustang Sally and Gingerbilly showed up as well. So this is what we did.

Warmup:

10-1 Motivator

19 Windmills

19 Hillbillys

19 Perfect Squats

57 Moroccan Nightclubs

19 Side Bends w/coupon (each side)

Mosey to the Playground

THE THANG:

Starting at different station, each Pax did 19 dips at the parallel bars, ran to the tree did 19 merkins, ran to the pullup bars and did 19 pullups. Repeato for 3 total sets (57 of each)

Mosey to the track

At the start line, with coupon, each Pax did 19 curls, 19 overhead presses and 19 skullcrushers

Run 100m to the line and 100m back

Repeato for 3 total sets (57 reps of each)

Mosey to the basketball court

Ladder #1 consisted of 12-1 starting with a run to the opposite end to do 12 WW2’s, run back and do 1 bench press w/coupon. Then 11-2, 10-3, etc……..

Ladder #2 consisted of 7-1 starting with a run to the opposite end to do 7 Diamond Merkins, run back and do 1 Scorpion Drydock. Then 6-2, 5-3, etc…..

Circle up under the tree.

This was intended to focus on strength, so I hope each of the pax got a little stronger after this morning’s workout. Seemed like a good workout, and Mustang Sally sure kept things light with his humor, which I appreciated. Gingerbilly as usual was cranking out solid set after solid set, and I was also impressed with Bessie, given that he pre-ran multiple laps for about 15 minutes prior to the workout.

Thank you guys for all the birthday wishes, both the men at the PigPen, as well as all the wishes on Band. You guys motivate me and bless me in so many ways, I’ve lost count, which is saying something! Seriously, thanks so much, and may the Lord Jesus bless each one of you abundantly. If I had one birthday wish, it would be that each of you would draw closer to our amazing Lord, and become more and more like Him. We’re all at different points in our journey towards that, but He is faithful, and will draw us to Himself, we just have to allow Him in.

Hope the guys in Kouts appreciated all the sets of either 57 or the trios of 19 that added up to 57. Or at least the math involved in it. I know I had a hard time with a couple myself. Thanks again, and hope to make it out to Porter County again soon!

BACKBLAST 9/11/21 Ultimate @ The Pig Pen

PAX: Mustang Sally, Tony Perkis, Banshee, Minion, Bessie

Four pax milled about hoping for more to show up for ultimate. Multiple options were discussed once we realized it would only be four of us for most of the time. We ultimately (see what I did there) decided that we would play some two on two. Tony Perkis went undefeated for the day. Everyone was tired by the end. Bessie was there for a few minutes to run a couple laps in preparation for his big paintball game later that morning and then left because one of his five kids always has something going on. All four pax came to Minion’s place for some coffee and good conversation about topics that ranged from Mustang Sally’s tendency to say unintentionally inappropriate things to the privilege enjoyed in Kouts when you last name is Birky. It was a good day in spite of the low numbers.

Hot and humid today! Only relief was the warm up in the shade, 3 water breaks, and laying in the wet grass for a few exercises. Cool to drive into Kouts and see everyone setting up for the Pork Fest.

Snuck in a mile pre-run with Gingerbilly while Lights Out did who knows what. I forgot to bring basketballs, but luckily Gingerbilly came to my rescue by driving back to his house and bringing back 3.
I am glad I finally made it to the Pig Pen. Lights Out gave me the low down on the lay of the land when he Q’d here last month. I think the easiest part of the Q was also the hardest. I think if I would have started with basketball, we would have saw a better free throw shooting performance from all of us. Tennis kicked our asses.
Props to Belding to making it out to his first beatdown! Great effort today! These guys are the opposite of the Troy Boys. They get there early and stretch. It’s unbelievable!
Coffeteria at Birky’s was cool. Not sure if it is always hopping like it was today, but I am guessing the Fest had something to do with it! I love the small-town atmosphere. Everyone knows everybody, especially Mustang Sally. He was like the Mayor! He knew everyone by name and shaking hands non-stop. He also emceed the Fest. He also treated me to coffee. Thanks again for that!
Next year I am in for the run and will come back for the fest.
Thanks for allowing to lead you all this morning! It was a great time. I will definitely be back.

Backblast 8/14/21 – ULTIMATE @ The Pig Pen

PAX: Bessie, Scarecrow, Groening, Mustang Sally, Ginger Billy, Belding (FNG), Chatterbox, Saget, Minion

9 PAX gathered at The Pig Pen for another round of ultimate. Things started out a bit dicey when only 4 people were there by 6:30, but eventually more rolled in (including Saget in his golf cart) including our newest FNG, Belding. Coffeeteria at Birky’s got a little weird when we discussed what a wombat was. Groening accurately described it as a hairy thing that was a certain size. Then we took a picture with one (via Google’s weird 3D technology thing). Ginger Billy seemed surprised to be lightly violating the poor wombat. Anyway, a good time was had by all. Looking forward to more good times at the Pig Pen.

Guys it was a Honor to lead this morning. I did change my Q once I was able to scout out what we can do this is a good location for an AO good Job Minion for starting this AO. All I can say is Gingerbilly is a Stud he was using a 41 pound block and doing all the Skull Crushers with that Block had to Hurt. Saget you did kill it as a Bootcamp really does challenge your body and it will get easier to do all of these different movements. Fonzie thanks for being my partner since we run at about the same speed this worked out great. Awesome to see Scarecrow with his almost 2 week vacation and away from Bootcamps and he didn’t miss a beat. Mustang Sally and Tank busted there humps through this not and easy workout. And of course PacRat enough said he kills it all the time the biggest complement you can get as the Q is when a Pax said he is beat and it was a true Beat down. Thanks to All of you who were there.. I will be back for more beat downs at the Pig Pen…
