⚡️ BACKBLAST: The Sand & Stone Murph ⚡️
DATE: 02/03/2026 AO: The Hub QIC: O.G. PAX: Editor, Dr. Freud, LaLoyd, Campbells, Heisenberg, O.G. COUNT: 6 HIMs TEMP: 22° F (Real Feel 20°) — Perfect weather for those who like their lungs crispy.
☀️ THE WARM-O-RAMA
The PAX gathered in the gloom, shivering just enough to keep the heart rate up.
- Bean Pickers: 10 IC (Reaching for that frost-covered dirt)
- Imperial Storm Troopers: 10 IC
- Hillbillies: 10 IC (The Imperial’s country cousin)
- Arm Circles: 10 IC (Front & Back) — Attempting to achieve lift-off.
🧱 THE THANG: The “Bar-less” Murph
The pull-up bars were out of commission, likely frozen or hiding from the 22-degree wind. No bars? No problem. We swapped the steel for Coupons and Sandbags and got to work on a 1/4 mile loop marked by the Q’s cones.
🏃♂️ The Buy-In: 4 laps around the cones. 1 mile of pure, unadulterated “Why did I leave my bed?” cardio.
💪 The Grind (Partitioned or Continuous):
- 100 Pull-up Subs: We traded the bar for Sandbag Rows, Block Rows, and RDLs. The posterior chains were screaming, but the bags didn’t stand a chance.
- 200 Push-ups: Done as prescribed. For the PAX with “crunchy” shoulders, the Block Press was the savior of the day.
- 300 Squat/Lower Body Subs: A mix of classic Air Squats, Lunges, and Weighted Glute Bridges. We focused on that slow-burn without the “WD-40 needed” knee grind.
🏃♂️ The Buy-Out: Another 4 laps (1 Mile). The victory lap, just with more heavy breathing and frozen sweat.
📓 MOLESKIN
6 PAX showed up to stare down the freezing temps and a modified Murph. Today proved that the “Murph” isn’t a set of equipment; it’s a state of mind. We adapted, we overcame, and we moved a lot of heavy stuff in the dark.
Quote of the Beatdown: > “The hard is what makes it great.” — Jimmy Dugan (and probably everyone doing RDLs with a frozen sandbag this morning).
🙏 CIRCLE OF TRUST (COT)
The Q shared a foundational truth that keeps us coming back to the gloom: Physical Effort → Mental Strength → Emotional Strength.
When we push our bodies in the 20-degree cold, we aren’t just building muscle; we’re building the resilience required to be better Husbands, Fathers, Friends, Brothers, Sons, and Leaders. If you can handle a Sandbag Murph at 5:30 AM, you can handle whatever the world throws at you by 9:00 AM.
